The Acrylabs R45 Roof System is a fluid applied, fully reinforced membrane designed for application to all existing smooth roof surfaces (EPDM, Modified Bitumen, Asphalt, other single ply roofs) as well as new insulation or hardboard. Combining multiple coats of 2100 series acrylic, elastomeric coatings with Mesh 2000 provides a fully adhered, seamless and reinforced membrane system with superior weatherability. The R45 is a monolithic, sustainable roofing system that will yield a final minimum membrane thickness of 45 mils. Acrylabs coatings are waterborne and meet or exceed all V.O.C. regulatory requirements.

Installation:

  1. 1.) Preparation
Acrylabs coatings are adhesive and require a clean, smooth dry surface to ensure proper adhesion. The key to a successful coating application is preparation. Pressure washing with 3500 psi minimum, is the preferred method to remove all oxidation, dirt and contaminants.  Consult Acrylabs Technical Department for additional information.

  2. 2.) Repair
A sound substrate is required for the R45 System. All repairs should be made following industry guidelines. These materials should not be applied over wet insulation or other related materials. Alligatored roofs can be smoothed with 8800 Asphalt Emulsion.  If any unusual conditions exist consult Acrylabs Technical Department.

  3. Flashings & Penetrations
All flashings, terminations, penetrations, transitions and any other areas deemed necessary should be reinforced using the following guidelines:

A.)Apply a generous coat of 2100B Base Coat to the area to be reinforced.
B.) Embed appropriate width Mesh 2000 into wet coating, removing all                                                wrinkles and fishmouths.
C.) Apply saturation coat of 2100B Base Coat.

*These areas must again be coated when applying finish coats to ensure minimum membrane thickness.  Acrylabs systems can be self terminating on walls and other locations. They can also be used to encapsulate entire wall areas creating a monolithic membrane for superior protection. When applying Acrylabs products as a wall coating please contact Acrylabs Technical Department or consult Acrylabs 2200 specification Sheet.

    *Tar & Gravel Roof
    1.) Remove slag
2.) Install hardboard such as DensDeck Prime, a pre-primed glass mat gypsum board, or              similar material.
3.) Install according to Factory Mutual specifications.
4.) Strip all seams with Acrylabs Base Coat and Mesh 2000 fabric prior to installing the                    R-45 System.

  4. Field Application
Apply 2100B Base Coat at a minimum rate of 1.25 gallons per 100 square feet (80sq.ft./gal.) Immediately embed Mesh 2000 into wet coating, removing all wrinkles and making sure the fabric is tight to the roof. Immediately apply a saturation coat of 2100B at a minimum rate of 1.25 gallons per 100 square feet (80sq.ft./gal.) Allow to dry before applying finish coats. Apply 2100 Finish Coat to all areas at a minimum rate of 1.25 gallons per 100 square feet (80sq.ft./gal.). Allow to dry.  Apply second coat of 2100 Finish Coat to all areas at a minimum rate of 1.25 gallons per 100 square feet (80 sq.ft./gal.) A minimum of two coats are required.

*When applying successive runs of Mesh 2000, overlap fabric by 3”.

  5. Inspection
Inspect roof and apply additional Acrylabs coating as necessary to ensure a final                membrane thickness of 45 mils DFT (dry film thickness).

This is a general guideline, minimum material requirements may change based on project specific requirements. Consult Acrylabs technical department for additional information. Failure of the substrate does not constitute Acrylabs coating or system failure.

Application: Acrylabs coatings can be brushed, rolled or sprayed utilizing airless spray equipment.

Spray Equipment: The following are guidelines for airless equipment.
A min. 3000PSI pump is required                  Tips range: 320-635
